Occupational therapy

Intent

To support pupils with specific difficulties that affect their ability to plan and carry out the movements required for everyday tasks. Pupils are supported with sitting and positioning, fine and gross motor skills, toileting, cutlery skills and general access to everyday living

Implementation

 to maintain hand function and fine motor skills

• OTs recommend equipment to support pupils including  hoisting and slings assessments

• OTs support with toileting and toileting aids

• OTs are invited to provide an updated report as part of the annual review process

Impact

The impact on pupils is evident in:

• OT assessments and reviews 

• Progress within an OT programme delivered within class and clinics

• EHCP reviews and ILP targets

• Effective day to day independent movement for everyday tasks where appropriate.
