Age
Intent
To ensure we do not unlawfully discriminate, harass or victimise pupils due to their age.
To ensure there is equality of opportunity between people of different ages.
To ensure good relations are fostered between all members of the school community regardless of age.
Implementation
• All pupils are respected regardless of age and not treated differently or less favourably
• Learning is age appropriate
• Key transitions are prepared for, eg moving on from one phase to the next, transitioning into adulthood
• Different age groups are respected, and not seen less favourably in teaching activities.
• Stereotypes are actively avoided when talking about ageing.
Impact
The pupils will experience:
• a sense of self
• a sense of belonging
• respect for others, non-discrimination
• be challenged on any discrimination shown by them to others
• be able to indicate their needs, wants and views This impact will be evident in:
• EHCP/ILP reviews
• Pupil voice
• Demonstrating through their learning; experiencing, engaging, awareness and understanding of issues around the protected characteristic of age.
